St. John the Baptist Religious Education is a way for children and youth ages 3-14 years old to come to know and love God more. Children will discover the Word of God and the splendor of our Catholic Faith through the gifts of the Holy Bible and the Liturgy of the Church.
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, our program for children ages 3-6 years (preschool – 1st grade) meets weekly. 3 class times are offered: Tuesday nights 4:30 - 5:45 pm, Friday mornings 9:30 - 11:30 am, or Saturday mornings 9:30 - 11:30 am.
2nd – 5th Grade Religious Education Classes meet weekly on Tuesday Nights 4:30 - 5:45 pm.
6th Grade Religious Education Classes meet every other week on Tuesday Nights from 6:15 - 8:00 pm (on same week as 7th and 8th grade)
7th and 8th Grade Religious Education Classes (Year 1 and 2 Confirmation Preparation) meet every other week on Tuesday Nights from 6:15 - 8:00 pm (on same week as 6th grade)
SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION
First Communion: At St. John the Baptist, First Communions are celebrated in the Spring. Children usually receive First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion when they are about 7 years old (in 2nd grade) after two years of preparation in the Catholic School or Religious Education Program.
Confirmation: At St. John the Baptist, the Sacrament of Confirmation is celebrated every Fall. The youth usually receive Confirmation in the fall of their freshman year of high school after two years of preparation in our Catholic School or Religious Education Program.
