Funerals

Upon the death of a loved one, if the family is using the services of a funeral home, don't hesitate to contact the funeral home to set up a time to meet and make funeral arrangements for a funeral Mass at St. John the Baptist. The funeral home will contact the parish office to arrange the date/time of the funeral Mass, (Subject to the availability of the Church/Chapel and the priest). If you are not involving a funeral home contact the parish office at your convenience and we can assist you with the arrangements. Our parish office hours are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and Wednesday, 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., we are closed on Fridays.  Funerals are generally held in the mornings, at 10:30 a.m., on  Monday, through Thursday, and Saturdays, and at 2:30 p.m. on Fridays. After a date and time are set, we will arrange for a volunteer bereavement minister to contact the family to help choose the readings and music (Old Testament, New Testament, Gospel, Psalm, music, as well as ask the family to complete notes on the decedent to assist the priest with the homily). The readings and music can be viewed below by clicking on the links for each form, or if you prefer a paper copy contact the the parish office. We want to do everything possible to help you during this difficult time and can be reached by calling the parish office at 630-668-0918, ext. 0.
