Student Life
Student life at St. John's is a blast! We offer multiple faith-based extracurricular opportunities, robust no-cut athletics programs,
amazing fine arts clubs, and challenging and fun STEM, chess and reading clubs. Come discover the difference!
Faith
We love our faith at St. John the Baptist! Students are encouraged to get involved in Mass by becoming an Altar Server (5th - 8th grade), or joining our Children's Choir, which sings at all of the school Masses. What a great way to be active in faith by helping at Mass! Additionally, we are proud to have Faith Families, which are a "family" of preschoolers through 8th graders that gather to learn about Catholicism, enjoy activities and assist our community (photo shows a Faith Family caroling at the Ronald McDonald House). Additionally, we have a buddy program that pairs students of different grades together for crafts, service projects and to get to know other students within the school. Our younger students love having an older "buddy" to look up to at school!
Sports
St. John's has an amazing athletics program!

All sports programs are NO CUT.
Sports are a great way to get involved in St. John’s, make lasting friendships, develop skills and demonstrate leadership. Parents love coming together as a community to cheer on our teams.

Fine Arts
St. John the Baptist has a robust extracurricular fine arts program. Our Drama Club (2nd - 8th grade) performs two major shows - a Christmas musical and a spring musical. From acting to singing to dancing, our students go all out to make it a terrific show every time. Additionally, at St. John's, we offer Band (4th - 8th grade) for those that would like to learn an instrument, and Choir (2nd - 8th grade) for those who love to sing!
Academic Clubs
At St. John the Baptist, we realize that exploring academically can happen outside of the classroom!
We have a STEM Club for 6th - 8th grade that delves deep into science and technology.
Our Battle of the Books teams (4th - 8th grade) compete against other Catholic grade schools in the Diocese of Joliet, answering questions based on assigned readings.
Additionally, our Student Council (6th - 8th grade) provides
leadership to the school, helps in decision making for various
events and participates in service projects in the community.
Chess Club
The St. John the Baptist Elementary Chess Program welcomes any student in grades 2-8 who already knows the basics of chess. Through engaging, strategic instruction led by a coach from Elite Chess, students learn to think critically, plan ahead, and strengthen their problem-solving skills in a fun and supportive environment. The lessons and confidence they gain from the program will benefit them for years to come. Registration is handled through Elite Chess
